prismprivacy.com launch
2025/08/13 — note, project
I made a small website last weekend to raise some awareness about privacy. It has a few simple tools that show you how much info you are leaking without noticing.
Right now it has 3 main tools:
IP & Location - shows where you are, your ISP and some other details. Your IP is like your digital house number. It can reveal your country, city, provider and even time zone. Combined with other data it can be used to track you across websites. Even without logging in anywhere. A VPN or Tor can help here.
Browser Fingerprint - small details like screen size, fonts, plugins, time zone, language. Taken together this can make you unique and trackable even without cookies. Advertising networks compare this across sites to follow you. Even with a VPN your fingerprint can still be unique.
Email Tracking Check - you paste in the HTML source of an email and it finds tracking pixels and links. Many newsletters and ads have invisible images or special links that send your IP, location and device info back when you open the email. This tool uses the public DuckDuckGo Tracker Radar database to detect them.
Everything runs directly in your browser. No data sent anywhere. I made this more as an educational project to learn about privacy myself and share it with others.
Next step will be a small browser extension that shows all trackers on any site you visit and what data they try to collect. More like a live tracker radar in your browser.
You can try it here: prismprivacy.com
I like the name a lot. The slogan is "Reveal what's hidden" like a prism splitting light into colors. In this case it reveals all the ways a site can track you without consent.
